axel karakasis is the main man in the groovy techno scene these days. with numerous releases on upfront labels like patterns, yin yang, omega, techhead, adult and many more he is building his impressive discography. the funky greek decided to keep the best tracks for his own imprint remain. 3 solid rocking technobombs is what to except. rolling like a train on full speed. no stops, just full speed all the way.. try to keep standing still on this bomb!

once again, tuningspork records ventures away from its trademark funky house in exchange for something a little more unexpected. last summer, the label issued >free your mind< (tsextra), a baleraric groove crafted by jay haze and ricardo villalobos. now comes another non-sequitur: >comptine d un autre été: l après-midi< (tsultra), mr. tiersens piano composition reconstructed for the dancefloor by jay. french composer yann tiersen has a minimalist approach that many electronic producers could learn from. his piece (the title of which roughly means >nursery rhyme of another summer: the afternoon<) provides the basis for this melancholy track. djs addicted to hyperbolic effects plugins might hesitate to play this - but those who appreciate subtlety will be rewarded here. tiersens original composition is tastefully manipulated into a track that makes sense in a club context, yet sets itself apart from the usual techno/house fare, providing a rare introspective moment on the dancefloor. and it might be worth mentioning: if you play this track and the floor doesnt fill up with ladies, then it probably means youre djing at a gay club. (not that theres anything wrong with that!)

for your electronic summer fun kerkhoff & prinz shove three loose techno grooves on your plates. >contract< relies on an oldschool offbeat bass, but with its funky percussions and noises and nice reverberated melody it becomes clear soon that no one pretends to be a badass here. with its wobbly bass and little follies, >orange< stays in this vein while >mann an bord< enchants us with relaxed perssions and funky snares and would definitely shine brightly in any house set.
